Week of November 15-19

Dear Parents,

This week I will be completing my second week of full time teaching, so once again when you drop off/pick up you will most likely not be seeing Mrs. Balck.

In reading we have/will be continuing our unit on disasters. This week, our focus will be on the volcanoes. We will be reading about the city of Pompeii. Additionally we will be looking how volcanoes form, the effects they have on nature, and various other things

In Science we will have a busy week. Monday we looked at water and today we looked at fossil fuels. Additionally we have been reviewing everyday this week for our quiz on Friday. Thursday's science class will be spent with a big review. The concepts for the test will include: minerals, igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks, fossils, amber, fossil fuel, water cycle, evaporation, condensation, groundwater, conserve, natural resource, renewable resource, nonrenewable resource, and pollution. I know the lust looks long but we have been reviewing constantly and the students have a good grasp of the material

In math we will continue adding and subtracting two and three digit numbers with regrouping. Additionally we have started We will also continue our Rocket math so students should study their math facts every night.

In English we have begun a unit completely about nouns.

In Social Studies we will be continuing our unit on Native Americans. We will look at where they lived and how you can still see evidence of them today.

In Religion we will continue our study of the Old Testament.

Finally, in Spelling we will continue to work on unit ten, which concentrates on spelling unexpected consonant patterns. The words can be found below.

Some students have had trouble accessing kidblog from their computers at home. The link is
