Homework: You may wish to visit Spelling City with your child this evening. We will be having a spelling test tomorrow on Unit 8, Spelling the long i Sound!

Math: We are still working on Rocket Math. Depending on which set your child is learning, please have him/her write out the fact families 5 times each (new facts are located at the top of the homework sheet) on a clean sheet of lined paper. Don't forget to skip a line in between sets and be as neat as can be.

example:

8+2=10
2+8=10
10-2=8
10-8=2

Please try to practice the math facts with your child. We ask that you do not write on the sheets; rather if you would like to have some written practice, have your student write problems and answers on a seperate piece of paper.

Try to have your child read aloud to you or someone else for at least 5 minutes tonight.

Field Trip: Slowly but surely we are receiving permission slips for the November 4th field trip (next Wednesday). If you have not signed the slip, please do so as soon as possible and return to school. The cost per child is $6.00. If writing a check, please make payable to Nancy Balck.

We are pleased to say we have enough drivers for the trip. Drivers are as follows:

Mr. Lake

Mrs. Hart

Mrs. Hogeterp

Dr. Milanowski

Mrs. Ross

Thank you for volunteering. We will be departing from school at approximately 11:30 am and returning right before school dismisses.

Halloween Celebration will be tomorrow! We ask that the children bring in their costumes to change into after lunch. Due to food allergies, we will not be serving treats. Rather we will be playing games and watching movies from 1:45 until 2:45. Remember, it is casual day tomorrow. Also, thank you to Mrs. Mish and Mrs. Portinga for coordinating our party.

Alt Dinner will be on November 14th. We are still collecting donations for our classroom basket, Fun With Food. Please send in donations, gift cards, or money with your child. Baskets will be assembled within the next few weeks.

Donations for Food Baskets are being accepted in our classroom. Please send in non-perishable food items. The third grade has been asked to bring in canned vegetables, meat and tuna. Thank you in advance for any donations.

Iowa Testing begins next week. We try to make this as stress free as possible. Please make certain your children bring in their own good, healthy snack each day. Most importantly, make certain they get a good night sleep.

Conferences are next week. The recent Link attachments include conference schedules. Please take a look at the schedule. We look forward to seeing you!

Don't forget that we will have 1/2 days on Thursday and Friday of next week. Dismissal will be at 11:00.

Finally, the all school mass will be on Monday next week instead of Thursday. We will be celebrating All Saints Day. Please feel free to come and join us in this beautiful celebration.

With that, we ask that you have a lovely evening!
